| PETER BELL LIBRARY The Peter Bell library occupies a unique place in the life and work of Manor Road United Church. The library was dedicated by the Congregation on December 3rd, 1972. The late Cora Bell wished to have a lasting tribute to her son, Peter, who gave much time, effort and devotion to the church and to building up and promoting the library. Many members contributed to the building of the library with their skills and donations. Our church is a member of the Church Library Association of Ontario and a representative of Manor Road tries to attend the Spring or Fall conference whenever possible. The library covers the following classifications: Art, Biblical, Biography, Canada, Christian Faith, Christian Living, Contemporary Living, Fiction, History, Outreach, Personal Growth and Family Living, Prayers and Devotions, Resources, World Religions and Miscellaneous. The founder of our library, Cora Bell, died on November 11, 1992. Each year on the anniversary of her passing, flowers are placed in the library in Coras memory. We are indeed fortunate to have this splendid resource for research and for the reading enjoyment of our congregation. BOOK REVIEWS
THREE CUPS OF TEA by Greg Mortenson
A "good news" story! It outlines what one man can do with determination,
passion and hard work. It follows Greg in his efforts to build schools in
Afghanistan. His next book, STONES TO SCHOOLS is also now in the
stores. Highly recommended.
ALL OF ME by Anne Murray with Michael Posner
If you are a fan of Anne Murray, and even if you're
not, this is a great book to read. She tells about her early family life,
and years working in the music business. Snowbird catapulted her to
stardom and she build on that. She's a true Canadian superstar. Some
wonderful photos are included too.
Highly recommended.
