- Faith
Exploration/Inquiry Group
Through small
study-groups, we at Manor Road, exchange our ideas, feelings, experiences, and questions
in a non-judgemental and respectful way. In our discussions we talk about God, Jesus, the
Bible, Christianity and religion in general. Although everyone has to find their own way
on their faith journey, sharing that journey with a supportive group allows us to draw
encouragement and perceive new insights and perspectives along that journey.
Previously,
in order to stimulate discussion and inquiry we have:
- Discussed
the works of Marcus Borg (The Heart of Christianity), Tom Harpur (The Pagan Christ) and
Joyce Rupp (The Cup of Our Life - a guide for spritual growth).
- Used the
Kerygma Discovering the Bible program to study the books of the Bible in depth
and their interconnectedness.
- Participated
in Taizé groups (Scripture reading, meditative singing and silent reflection.)
- Viewed and
discussed a series of movies about the life of Jesus.
- Met to talk
about Islam in order to supply feedback to the United Church for the document
Proposed statement on the relationship of the United Church of Canada and
Islam.
Study groups meet once a week in the evening and, depending on the topic
of discussion, programs may run from several weeks to several months.

- Kids
Night Out
The children
get together about every two months usually on the last Friday of the month
between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. They enjoy a tasty supper and play gentle floor-hockey, hoola-hoop, do crafts, play games, read and draw and generally have a good time! We rely
on volunteers who bring their musical instruments and play music, those who help with the
supper, the games and the clean-up. There is no charge. All children are welcome!
